Having resupplied yesterday, all we had to do was eat and hitch back to trail – the latter of which was an ordeal! We waited for 2 hours before getting a ride, which took us to the wrong spot and left us stranded in the desert. Thankfully it wasn’t too long before we got picked up by a lovely old timer who entertained us with stories along the way. By this time is was mid afternoon and we still had 5 miles to go + 2 to get back on trail. The climb up from Horseshoe Meadow was sweaty but quick and we proceeded along the PCT once more.
Not once this day would we walk on soil, the snow was thick all around us in all its glory. Dinner was taken looking over the mountains from a clearing and we rolled into camp as a full family just as the sun dipped below the horizon. Josh and I got to burying the tents in the snow for warmth while the girls broke their way through an icy lake to grab water. Well earned rest this night with the next day scheduled to be a big one.
