A beautiful sunrise helped us up and at the bottom of the hill – a further 3 miles of trail down – there was a water fountain to set us up for the day. The trail crossed lowland flats and a dry river bed towards a highway underpass where hiker trash gathered and enjoyed some deposited trail magic. After this bliss the days heat really picked up and unfortunately the path did not pass towards any shade of any sort.

We put our heads down and marched our way to the wind farm where the workers allow hikers to enjoy their air conditioning and provide water and ice cream. This fuelled us for an upcoming climb which led to a winding decor among green hills down towards Mission Creek. We bedded down alongside the creek with Jungle Law and Co-op, enjoying the cool evening and trying to recover from inevitable slight dehydration that the day brought.
