It was a fresh start to the day. We only had a few miles to go to get to the Trail Pass trail head where we’d turn off the PCT to hike & then hitch to Lone Pine. Those miles took us up hill through patches of snow before we dived off for the 2 mile descent. While slipping and sliding our way down we came across our first ranger who asked for our permits and gave advice for places to stay and eat in town.

We eventually found ourselves in Horseshoe Meadow marvelling at the expanse of untouched white that we had to cross. Once at the road we began to walk down towards town (20 miles away) but were fortunate enough to come by Chris who, along with his girlfriend, was kind enough to give us a ride to town. We stayed at a lovely motel that claimed to be the celebrity spot for westerns filmed in the area.
