This was our earliest wake up yet – 05:00. We got our stuff together in the dark and headed onto the immediate slopes as the sun began to rise. Pine forests dominated the day offering a much needed shade to recover from the exposure of yesterday. It was beautiful. We’d catch glimpses of snowy peaks that we thought may be Big Bear, the summits overlooking our up and coming stop and resupply. The air was scented by pine resin from fallen trees 🌲. We stopped for lunch at the 250 mile mark, booked our accommodation for the next day at Big Bear Lake and ploughed on to Arrastre trail camp. This was a great day for us in contrast to the one before. We didn’t feel well fed, but the scenery around us kept us moving and motivated.
