The day of Mission Creek, an absolute mission of a day…see what I did there? Straight out of bed was the largest river crossing thus far. Turned out we’d be criss crossing this river throughout the day as previous storms had wiped out the PCT trail leading to many a lost moment as we navigated the now dry river bed. It was frustrating and the heat didn’t help.
Miles came slow, and our lack of sufficient food was apparent. It was such a tough day, never have I felt so energy depleted. As we approached our camp spot with the sun sipping below the mountains, the beauty of the trail community gave us hope. An amazing couple we had been crossing that day gave us a bag of trail mix and some food for dinner. Saviours. I’m so so grateful for that act of kindness.
