It’s time to appreciate those who make the trail so enjoyable and magical, Trail Angels. Karina & Francisco provided myself, Molly and so many other hikers with hot dogs, Gatorade, water, fruit, shade and conversation on one of the most exposed and gruelling sections so far.

Day 5 we were coming down the valley after a windswept and sweaty lunch when we saw their gazebo and our spirits were lifted immediately. Francisco has been a section hiker around these parts and knew exactly where hikers would be needing such a helping hand.

Why do they do it? Because they can, and because they are the most genuine and kind people ever. To give up their time around a busy schedule – Karina had just finished being a lead at a Girl Scout event and, rather than heading home, came to sit in the sun with us – and provide so much for thru/section/day hikers alike cannot be thanked enough. To Karina, Francisco and Trail Angels abound, we thank and love you.
