PCT Northern Terminus

Through desert sands, mountain snows and valley forests we have walked. All beyond now is simply life in the knowledge that we have lived – Ethan “Spook” Wrigglesworth, official PCT completee.

I will forever remember these past 6 months as the most challenging and rewarding both physically and mentally. To those I have met along the way and shared trail time with, I thank you for the memories and for being some of the most awe inspiring people I will ever meet.

PCT Northern Terminus

I walked 2660 miles from Mexico to Canada. My body is mighty but it is my will that walked me here. Walking up, walking down, walking whilst soaked in sweat, walking whilst soaked in rain, walking through miles upon miles of snow, walking over mountains, walking through rivers, walking across sands, walking hurt, walking frustrated, walking bored. I walked for 173 days, almost 6 months of my life, but I got there.

From Day 169

A short refuelling stop then back to the trail. Only 70 miles to go now! Still no chance to properly update our trail story…

Stevens Pass

Stevens Pass

From Day 164

People, these are exciting times. We are currently at Stevens Pass, the second to last stop before the Canadian border. Just a little over a week and less than 200 miles to go. Oh my bloomin’ days, right?!

Well, between here and there is Wilderness and little opportunity to jump on here and update your beautiful faces. Once we stride on in to Canada on the 15th updates will continue as usual and we can all celebrate together like one big happy family. I’ll save the emotional words for then, but just know that we are STOKED!

Also, the podcast will continue to be uploaded post trail life. So for those whose follow it, do not worry, you’ll be able to continue your trail fix long after we are safe at home.

MUCH LOVE 💕

A Birthday Poem for Ethan

A Birthday Poem for Ethan

Ode to a Wild Man

Written by Joshua Parry, August 2019

Oh wild man, oh wild man,
Look at his bush of beard,
Look at his big flat feet,
Ignore all the smush he eat.

Oh wild man, oh wild man,
Look at his horse mane hair,
Look at his string bean body,
Ignore his strange clothes all shoddy.

Oh wild man, oh wild man,
Look at his fearsome spirit,
Look at his courageous heart,
Ignore the smell of fart.

Oh wild man, oh wild man,
Look at the miles he’s walked,
Look at the friends he’s made,
Ignore how his toes have splayed.

Oh wild man, oh wild man,
Not far now from home,
In hugs you’ll be immersed,
Just have a shower first.

Look who we bumped into!

Look who we bumped into!

In the past 2 weeks we have walked from Ashland (Southern border of Oregon) to Timberline Lodge (Northern border of Oregon), where we have linked up with Ethan’s parents for some R&R. That’s 377 miles in 14 days, and we are now knocking on the door of Washington state. Suddenly the end seems near, only 550 miles to go…

Berries

Berries

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh it’s berry season people! On trail, huckle, blue, black, rasp and strawberries are all starting to bloom this way and that providing delicious nature sweets as we walk. Without meaning to sound deep, the feeling of fuelling yourself from nature’s goodies as they grow is a primal delight. Grab an ID book, take a stroll, and make the most of the bounty when it’s there. There is no better feeling.

Big Lake

Big Lake

From Day 141

A misty Big Lake view greeted us this morning as we prepare to cross the 2000 mile mark.

Soon we will be meeting Simon and Denise (Ethan’s mum and dad) for two days off around Timberline Lodge. Essentially all our Oregon posts will be updated then. Keep eyes open for these and ears ready for new episodes of the Trail And Errors podcasts.

Crater Lake

From Day 134

We hit Crater Lake in super weather conditions; storms rolled in a few days later and we’ve since got very wet! The deepest lake in the USA is absolutely gorgeous! 🙂

California

California

Dear California,
I just wanted to say a big thank you for the following, plus more; the desert heat, the mountain passes, the month of life in the snow, the forest walks, the ridge line views, the sweat soaked days, the seven bears, the endless deer, marmots, the tears, the blood, the laughs, the endurance and strength of mind and body, the trail angels, the trail brothers and sisters, the few times you’ve made me think I may die and all those times you’ve made me truly experience life.

You’ve given me so much over the last 4 months that I’ll never forget, but you’re also bloody huge and I’m happy to say I’ve made it through.

Oregon, you sweet babe, lets see what you’ve got in store for us.
